Rivera is a city in the north of Uruguay, located on the border with Brazil.
With a population of around 75,000 inhabitants, it is the capital of the department of Rivera and is known as "the city of peace" for its history of respect and coexistence between the Brazilian and Uruguayan cultures.
Among its main attractions is the International Park, a protected natural area that extends on both sides of the border and has a large number of native flora and fauna species.
The Museum of the Indian and the Gaucho also stands out, which exhibits a collection of objects and tools that belonged to the ancient inhabitants of the area.
To get to Rivera, it can be accessed by road from Montevideo, taking National Route 5 and then National Route 30, on a trip that lasts around 6 hours.
It is also possible to arrive by plane, since it has an international airport that connects with several cities in the region.
Regarding its location, Rivera is located on the northern border of Uruguay, bordering the Brazilian state of Rio Grande do Sul. It is located about 600 kilometers from Montevideo, the capital of the country, and about 450 kilometers from Porto Alegre, the nearest city in Brazil.
