Paso de los Toros is a city located in the department of Tacuarembó, Uruguay. Its history began in the 19th century when the "Estancia Paso de los Toros" was founded, which gave rise to the city.
In 1884 the Paso de los Toros train station was inaugurated, which contributed to its growth and economic development.
In the 1930s, the city became an important industrial center due to the installation of the pulp and paper mill of the UPM company (formerly known as Botnia).
In Paso de los Toros, there is the Salto del Penitente park, a popular tourist destination for its waterfalls and natural pools.
You can also visit the Carlos Gardel Museum, which is dedicated to the life and work of the famous tango singer who spent part of his youth in the city.
To get to Paso de los Toros from Montevideo, you can take Route 5 to the city. There are also bus services from the capital and other major cities in the country.
