Montevideo is the capital of Uruguay and is located on the southern coast of the country, on the northern shore of the Río de la Plata.
With a population of more than 1.3 million inhabitants, it is the largest city in Uruguay and its political, economic and cultural center.
Among the attractions of Montevideo is the historic center, known as Ciudad Vieja, where you can find colonial buildings, museums, art galleries and a large number of restaurants and bars.
Also noteworthy are the Plaza Independencia, the Solís Theater, the Mercado del Puerto, the Rambla de Montevideo, the Parque Rodó, among others.
To get to Montevideo, it can be done by air through the Carrasco International Airport, which is about 30 minutes from the city center.
It is also possible to arrive by bus from other cities in the country or from Buenos Aires, Argentina, via the ferry that crosses the Río de la Plata.
Regarding its location, Montevideo is located in the southern part of the country, bordering to the north with the department of Canelones, to the east with the Río de la Plata, to the south with the Río de la Plata and the department of San José, and to the west with the department of Colonia.
