Libertad is a city located in the department of San José, Uruguay, about 46 kilometers south of Montevideo. It is located in a rural area, surrounded by fields and small mountains.
It is a quiet city, with a population of around 8,000. The main attractions of Libertad are the church of San José, the central square and the area of spas on the coast of the Río de la Plata, such as La Floresta and Costa Azul.
The city also has a historical museum and an ecological park.
To get to Libertad from Montevideo, you can take Route 1 until km 27, and then turn off towards Route 64. The city can also be accessed through the Interbalnearia Route, which connects the coastal cities of eastern Uruguay with Montevideo. and the cities of the west.

It is located about 40 kilometers from the capital Montevideo and about 20 kilometers from the city of San José de Mayo, the departmental capital.
