Durazno is a city located in the center of Uruguay, about 183 km from Montevideo. The city was founded in 1821 and is the capital of the department of Durazno.
The city has several tourist attractions, including Plaza Sarandí, a green space in the center of the city that has a monument to the homeland, and the San Pedro church, built in 1885.
In addition, on the outskirts of the city is the Parque de la Hispanidad, an ideal place for walks and picnics, with a wide variety of flora and fauna.
Durazno is also known for its parties and festivals, among which the Youth Week in October, the National Spring Festival in November, and the Durazno Expo in March stand out.
To get to Durazno from Montevideo, you can take Route 5 to the city. There are also bus services that connect Durazno with other cities in the country.
