Young is a city located in the department of Río Negro, in western Uruguay.
Known as the "rice capital of Uruguay", its economy is based mainly on the production of rice and cattle.
The city has a wide variety of shops, restaurants and services for visitors, as well as tourist attractions such as the Merín spa and lagoon, the Río Negro Biosphere Reserve and numerous tourist ranches.
In addition, the National Rice Festival is celebrated in Young, in which local traditions and gastronomy are highlighted.
