San José de Mayo is a city located in the department of San José, Uruguay.
Founded in 1783, it is considered one of the oldest cities in the country.
It is an important commercial and service center in the region, with a wide variety of shops, restaurants and hotels.
It also has several historical sites, such as the Cathedral of San José, the Plaza de los 33 Orientales and the Teatro Macció, which is one of the oldest theaters in Uruguay.
In addition, it is only 45 minutes by car from the Atlantic coast and about two hours from the capital, Montevideo.
