Rosario is a small city located in the department of Colonia.
It is located about 140 km west of Montevideo and 50 km east of the city of Colonia del Sacramento.
Its main attraction is its natural landscape, since it is located at the mouth of the Rosario stream in the Uruguay River, which allows you to enjoy sandy beaches and crystal clear waters.
Another important attraction is Fort San Miguel, a Spanish construction from the 18th century that functioned as a military defense in colonial times. You can also visit the Ruins of San Francisco, an old convent that was destroyed in the Great War.
To get to Rosario you can take Route 1 from Montevideo to Colonia del Sacramento, and then Route 21 to Rosario. There is also public transport from Montevideo and other nearby cities.
