Punta del Este is a peninsular city with a tourist resort of international importance. It is located on a narrow strip of land, with a permanent population of 20,000 inhabitants.
Its beaches are divided into Mansa west side and east side Brava.
The name Mansa is because they are on the side of the Rio de la Plata (although the water is salty and green) and be protected from the winds and currents from the Atlantic Ocean, almost always presents fairly calm waters; Gorriti Island also protects the beach from the wind.
While the beach is ocean Brava, has a much more impetuous waves.
