Paysandú is a Uruguayan city located in the northwest of the country, on the left bank of the Uruguay River, about 363 km from Montevideo.
It is the capital of the department of Paysandú and has a population of around 80,000 inhabitants.
Among the tourist attractions of the city are the Municipal Park, the General Artigas Bridge that connects the city with the Argentine Colón, the Florencio Sánchez Theater, the Municipal Market, the Monument to Perpetuity and the Historical Museum. In addition, the city is known for its carnival and for its festivities in honor of San Juan.
To get to Paysandú from Montevideo, you can take a bus or a train from the Tres Cruces Terminal. It is also possible to arrive by car through National Route 3 or National Route 90.
The city of Paysandú has a strategic location for tourism, since it is located at the confluence of two important rivers: the Uruguay and the Queguay. In addition, it is located a few kilometers from important tourist centers such as Termas de Guaviyú, Termas de Almirón and the National Park Esteros de Farrapos e Islas del Río Uruguay.
