Mercedes is a Uruguayan city located in the department of Soriano, on the banks of the Negro River.
It is a quiet city with a well-preserved historic center, where you can find buildings and monuments from the 19th and 20th centuries. In addition, it has a wide variety of natural attractions, such as beaches, parks and protected areas.
Among the tourist attractions of the city are the Teatro 28 de Febrero, the "Eduardo Víctor Haedo" museum and Artigas square. A few kilometers from the city are the Guayquerías Park Natural Reserve and the Las Cañas Spa.
To get to Mercedes you can take a bus from Montevideo or any major city in Uruguay.
It is also possible to arrive by car on National Route 2 or by ferry from Buenos Aires, Argentina, to the city of Colonia del Sacramento and then drive approximately 2 hours to Mercedes.
