The city of Maldonado is located in the southeast of Uruguay, specifically in the department of Maldonado, which is one of the 19 departments in the country.
Maldonado is located in the coastal zone of the country, very close to the city of Punta del Este, another important tourist center in Uruguay. It limits to the north with the department of Lavalleja, to the east with the Atlantic Ocean, to the south with the department of Rocha and to the west with the department of Canelones.
The city of Maldonado is the capital of the homonymous department and is one of the most important cities in Uruguay. It is located about 130 kilometers east of Montevideo, the capital of the country.
Maldonado's location is privileged, since it is located in a coastal area of great natural beauty, with beaches, forests and mountains. In addition, its proximity to Punta del Este, an internationally renowned tourist destination, makes it an important economic and tourist center in Uruguay.
