Las Cañas is a small Uruguayan town located in the department of Río Negro, on the banks of the Uruguay River and close to the city of Fray Bentos.
One of its main attractions is Las Cañas beach, ideal for practicing water sports and fishing.
Also noteworthy are the Las Cañas Nature Reserve, a protected area that is home to an important variety of native flora and fauna, and the historic Revolving Bridge, built in 1912 to allow ships to pass through the Uruguay River.
To get to Las Cañas you can take National Route 2, which connects Montevideo with Fray Bentos, and from there continue on Route 24 to the town.
It can also be accessed by the Uruguay River through river transport services from various coastal cities in the country.
The location of Las Cañas is strategic, since it is only 12 km from Fray Bentos, a city that offers services of all kinds, such as accommodation, gastronomy and entertainment.
In addition, it is at a reasonable distance from other tourist towns on the Uruguayan coast, such as Colonia del Sacramento and Punta del Este.
