Bathed by the waters of the Atlantic Ocean, its name comes from its ancient rock formations by the sea more than 500 million years. This geological formation on the time of Gondwana, is of great scientific interest. They are also often found among the rocks or on the beach, fossil remains, such as pieces of gliptodonte.
Fans of bird watching are also rejoicing here: many species as chiflón, the chiricote, the oystercatcher, the calandria, the thrush and the red, the sky around the place.

La Pedrera is built on a rock formation surrounded by two beaches: The Desplayado (east) and Playa del Barco (west of the rocks). Both are dangerous because beaches are bathed by the Atlantic Ocean. The Desplayado is a rather flat and finest sand beach. Playa del Barco features ideal for surfing and other water sports. It is deep, because when entering the sea has a well pronounced. Barco Beach gets its name from the wreck that took place there in 1977 boat Cathay Chinese origin.
