Located on the sea of the Atlantic Ocean, its name derives from ancient rock formations of more than 500 million years.
This geological formation on the time of Gondwana, is of great scientific interest. They often find fossil remains among the rocks or on the beach.
Traditionally it was a quiet resort, which lately has much more competition.
La Pedrera is surrounded by two beaches: The Desplayado (east) and Playa del Barco (west of the rocks).
The Desplayado is a rather flat and finest sand beach. Playa del Barco features ideal for surfing and other water sports. It is deep, because when entering the sea has a well pronounced. Barco Beach gets its name from the wreck that took place there in 1977 boat Cathay Chinese origin.
