Fray Bentos is a city located in the western region of Uruguay, in the department of Río Negro.
It is located on the right bank of the Uruguay River, opposite the Argentine city of Gualeguaychú.
The city is known for its industrial heritage, such as the former premises of the Liebig's meat factory, today a museum and UNESCO World Heritage site.
It also has Parque Roosevelt, an extensive green space on the banks of the Uruguay River.
