Fray Bentos is a city located in the department of Río Negro in Uruguay, founded in 1859 on the banks of the Uruguay River.
Its name is due to the Franciscan Order and the cattle that were raised in the region for meat export to Europe.
In the city is the La Anglo factory, famous for the production of canned meat that it exported to the whole world.
Currently, the factory is a museum and UNESCO World Heritage Site.
In addition, the city has several tourist attractions, such as the General San Martín International Bridge, the Anglo neighborhood and Roosevelt Park.
