Carmelo is a Uruguayan city located in the department of Colonia, on the banks of the Río de la Plata.
It is known for its natural beauty, with white sand beaches and crystal clear waters, as well as its wineries and vineyards.
The city has a well-preserved historic center, which includes the Plaza Independencia, the Church of the Immaculate Conception and the Uamá Theater.
It is also a starting point for exploring the nearby El Rosario Nature Reserve and Anchorena Park.
To get to Carmelo, you can take a bus from Montevideo, which takes about 3 hours. There is also a ferry service from Buenos Aires, which connects the city with Carmelo in a few hours.
Regarding its location, Carmelo is located on the southwest coast of Uruguay, about 250 km from Montevideo and close to the border with Argentina.
